Junior Squash Program Targets Young

The Junior Squash program kicks off again on Wednesday October 5th. The Swot  Squash group starts at 4.30pm with the older group following at 6.00pm.

The Swot Squash program targets younger and novice Squash players aged from 6 years up to about 12 years of age.

There is a greater focus on fun and broader skill development (especially for younger novices) in this group, with pleasing results so far. They also play a mini competition with varying rules depending on the standard of the players.

It is great to see kids who have been playing only a few months demonstrating all the basic Squash skills, with exciting rallies and plenty of movement.

If you have or know of any younger children keen to get into some physical activity, this is a great way to start. You can bring them down on Wednesday to try it out for free. It is especially good for kids who do not necessarily have great coordination at present as the program helps develop basic physical skills as well as more specific Squash skills.

The main Junior Squash program has also been progressing well with the teenagers taking to Squash with enthusiasm. Whilst most of the participants have some coordination skills, all levels are catered for, including beginners. This program also is a transitional program designed to help develop Squash  skills whilst giving everyone a chance to play in competition.

Both programs are full participation meaning that they are engaging in Squash based activities for the duration of the session, either playing, refereeing or taking part in skills or coaching under the guidance of coach, Raymond Strachan.

Cost is $50 per term per child (max $135 per term for three or more from the one family)

Hervey Bay Squash Association gratefully acknowledges the support for this program given by Steve and Melanie Robb, the venue operators.
